Congratulations to High School West and High School East students who thrived this past year at BOCES WIlson Tech.
Daniel Kyranakis for Outstanding Student: Daniel, a senior at HS West and second-year Aviation Flight student, is regarded by his teachers to be a conscientious, bright and dedicated student. Always interested in aviation, Daniel has taken advantage of every opportunity that has been presented to him in his career and technical education program. His hard work and diligent preparation enabled him to pass the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge test and earned him first place in the SkillsUSA Long Island Aviation flight contest. Daniel will attend Long Island University on a full-tuition Presidential scholarship and pursue a degree in Business Management with a focus on Aviation Administration.
Matthew Weiner and Carter Kelly for First Place NYS SkillsUSA Quiz Bowl Team: Five Wilson Tech Dix Hills students joined forces after competing as individuals and took home the top prize in SkillsUSA Quiz Bowl in the NYS SkillsUSA competition. Each student brought something unique to the team:
Audio Production student Matthew Weiner always had an interest in music, creating and mixing audio on his laptop. He hopes to become a master engineer to prepare music for final distribution and will be attending Five Towns College in the Business Management Program with Audio Recording Technology concentration.
Fellow Audio Production student Carter Kelly’s general interest in audio is bridging with an interest in film post-production audio. His favorite project in class included a movie scene that was provided without audio, to which students were charged with determining appropriate sound to add to the scene. Carter plans to apply to Five Town College and looks to continue his studies in the audio field.
