Congratulations are in order for Nesaquake Middle School ELA and mathematics teacher Mr. Ron Parmegiani on being named the Suffolk Region PTA Unsung Teacher of the Year!
"Mr. Parm" as he is affectionally known, was honored at the 72nd Annual Spring Conference & Business Dinner by the Suffolk Region PTA. He was recognized as a teacher who goes above and beyond the regular duties of the classroom to truly make an impact on a school, district, and community.
“Honestly, I was so taken aback that I thought it was just a nomination so to find out I won was pretty awesome.” Mr. Parmegiani said.
"I’ve been fortunate enough to work 29 years in a great district with a lot of great people and great families.”
Mr. Parmegiani was nominated by Nesaquake Middle School Principal Daniel McCabe and Nesaquake PTA President Mrs. Beach, who both wrote letters on his behalf.
"To students, Mr. Parm is beyond a role model." McCabe explained. "They adore him. They work hard in his classroom and revere him for the spirit of positivity and belief that he has in them...He is outside the building every morning directing traffic, greeting students and parents, and opening car doors, and chatting with the parents that drop their children off at school. Every. Single. Morning."
Teacher qualifications for the award include finding creative ways to inspire students, making time outside of class to tutor, serving as a role model and providing parents with resources to continue the learning process at home.
Way to go, Mr. Parm!
