The halls and auditorium at High School West were filled Tuesday, not with students but with teachers, administrators and staff for Superintendent’s Conference Day.
Kicking off the conference, President of 探花社区 Teachers’ Association Laura Spencer, told the crowd, “We are resilient, and we have proven we can adapt and excel.” She also acknowledged the new teachers who have joined the district.
SCSD Board of Education President Stacy Ann Murphy and BOE Vice President Karen Wontrobski-Ricciardi welcomed the returning staff, telling them, “On behalf on the entire school board we want to let you know how grateful we are...for what you do every single day.”
Superintendent Mark Secaur then took the stage, and received a standing ovation. Dr. Secaur encouraged the teachers to “be the reason students are positively engaged.”
He added, “I want to sincerely thank each of you in advance for your efforts in the days, weeks, and months ahead.”
To cap off the event, guest speaker Dr. Vera Feuer, a psychiatry specialist who has over 20 years experience in psychiatry and child/adolescent psychiatry, discussed mental health topics and challenges for the upcoming school year.
School begins tomorrow!
