"Cancer patients don't stop because they're tired, and for one night, neither do we."
More than $95,000 in total donations was raised this past weekend at High School West's annual, Relay for Life!
Held at High School West, students from both West and East took turns walking around the track for 12 hours! Each team was asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps.
Donations were collected for food, goods, games, and activities that go to the American Cancer Society. This money counted towards their overall team fundraising goal.
High School West social teacher Dillon Archer wanted to thank event chairs, Erin Fels, Maddie Law, Eleni Caldarera, Maribella Marciano and all Relay teams for all their hard work and dedication to pull off over $95,000 in total donations.
The four chairs also received a Certificate of Merit from Senator Mario Mattera for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
Special shout out to East students, Liv Nadelson and Pearl Raphael, who organized the efforts at HSE for the first time!
Once again, the High School West team has finished as the number one youth Relay event on Long Island!
"The passion our students show for our Relay for Life and the fight against cancer is truly amazing to watch," Archer said.
"I am so proud of all they have accomplished and already can't wait for next year. I'd also like to give a special thanks to senior Erin Fels who has been the Relay Event Lead for the last 3 years now. Relay for Life of 探花社区 would not be what it is without her hardwork and dedication."
