Mrs. Smith’s and Mrs. Silsdorf-Kowalski's Early Childhood and Preschool held their Preschool graduation this week at High School East and West.
High school students were proud to showcase the lessons and activities they had planned as part of the Early Childhood & Preschool course which is part of the CTE Family & Consumer Science Department. In addition, students can earn 3 college credits and progress to the advanced level course next year.
After taking the prerequisite of Child Development, they were able to put their knowledge into action and gain invaluable first-hand experience working with children. Students get to see the “behind the scenes” work of a teacher as they plan each day's theme, craft, story and game while adjusting lessons to be developmentally appropriate and meet individual ability levels and personal interests.
The children were joined by their families as they sang songs, did activities and received their certificates. The classes then provided the families with a celebration with refreshments.
