“Love is when my mom takes care of me when I’m sick. Love is my mom.”
That was just one excerpt a student read from his poem at Thursday's St. James Elementary School's Poetry Cafe.
Fifth graders celebrated a unit of poetry by sharing poems with their guests in the Old Gym. Students learned a variety of figurative language and how poetry is a great way for individuals to express themselves and the emotions they feel.
This day was made possible first and foremost by the SJE students and their creativity.
A special thank you to all who transformed the Old Gym into the beautiful poetry cafe, especially our fifth grade coordinators, Mrs. Pira and Mrs. Feeney, as well as our class moms.
Amazing!
