探花社区 High School West is welcoming a new assistant principal this fall, and he happens to be a member of the United States Navy reserves.
Scott Johnson, most recently the dean of students at Glen Cove High School, has been named HSW’s new assistant principal.
“I’m most excited about taking a step forward as an assistant principal, getting involved in the 探花社区 community, learning about the families and contributing to an already great school district," Johnson said.
Johnson is currently a Security Officer in the US Navy Reserve, in charge of a Naval Security Force detachment out of Annapolis, MD. He was deployed to Guantanamo Bay in 2011 and 2012 and worked the detention camps. In 2019 and 2020, Johnson was deployed to East Africa working with the NAVY Seals.
Johnson graduated from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor's degree in 2009, and earned both a Master’s Degree and Administrators license from Molloy University.
For the last nine years, Johnson has worked at Glen Cove High School as social studies/special education teacher and dean of students.
His new position is effective, July 1.
