The honor speakers from High School East and West recently attended the Suffolk County School Superintendents Association 29th annual Valedictorians Luncheon at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook.
High School East honor speaker Sophia Augier and High School West honor speaker Stephen Jung represented the SCSD and were joined by Superintendent Dr. Mark Secaur, High School East Principal Rob Rose, High School West Principal John Coady and High School East science research coordinator Maria Zeitlin.
The SCSSA tradition honored the enviable accomplishments of the county’s highest-achieving graduates from the Class of 2023. Sophi and Stephen were called up onto the stage, accompanied by Dr. Secaur and each respective principal to receive a commemorative plaque.
During closing remarks, SCSSA President-Elect Dr. Timothy Hearney acknowledged that the parents were integral to the graduate’s achievement and should also be congratulated. To the valedictorians, Dr. Hearney said, “We are confident you will create new trails. You represent the best of education.”
