From newspaper plant holders to gaining some earth-friendly tips, first graders at Tackan Elementary School learned the value of recycling and keeping our environment clean today!
Long Island Center for Arts and Sciences representative, Donna Waldenburg, told the students, "We need to pretend that every day is earth day."
After a presentation from Ms. Waldenburg, students used "newspaper pots" to plant
watermelon seeds. Our young learners can then plant the biodegradable pots in the ground at home and in about four weeks, a watermelon will be ready to be planted in a bigger pot.
This event was made possible through the generosity of the Tackan Cultural Arts Program.
