The Food Science classes at High School East and West recently hosted their annual Thanksgiving feasts. The students planned the menu that they wanted and related the recipes to the Food Science concepts they have learned. The classes worked hard to prepare the meal which included turkey and all the trimmings. Each student was asked to invite a staff member that they would like to have join them at the feast to show them how much they are appreciated.
Students chose the dishes to be served, researched the scientific concepts involved in each recipe, and then used their time management, collaboration, and food preparation skills to execute over 13 different dishes.
The Food Science class is offered through our CTE Family & Consumer Sciences Department, taught by Mrs. Grebosz at HSE and Mrs. Silsdorf at HSW.
