The High School West Food Science class learned about their hydroponics system and discussed the impact of this technology on our food system, food supply and the environment.
The Food Science students will maintain the Family & Consumer Sciences Department's hydroponics system throughout the year so that the food and herbs grown can be used directly in their cooking labs - talk about fresh!
Food Science is a full year course offered through the CTE Family and Consumer Science Department to juniors and seniors as a third unit of science towards graduation and offers 4 college credits through Long Island University.
