More than 19,000 students from all over the country recently competed in the DECA International Career Conference in Anaheim, CA, and eleven 探花社区 High School students were among them.
The 探花社区 HS East School Store, also known as the Bull Market, was recognized as a Gold Certified school based enterprise (SBE). Brendan Thatcher and Jase Heffernan, both juniors at East, competed in the SBE Competition where they had to analyze and report on the promotion, financial and entrepreneurial aspect of the East Bull Market. Brendand and Jase created a 35 page manual that highlighted various aspects of the Bull Market such as promotion, financial statements, operations, pricing, distribution, selling and human resources. Once in Anaheim, they attended an SBE Workshop to network with other school store managers and later competed against thousands of other school store managers by delivering a presentation highlighting the important topic of product management. This is their first time competing in the SBE competition, and receiving Gold Certification! Congratulations Brendan and Jase!
探花社区 West's Ashlynn Renkowski was a top 10 semi-finalist in the Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling event. Ashlynn prepared a sales presentation for a Glamping excursion for a company retreat. She included various types of Glamping excursions the company could choose from as well as the marketing and cost breakdown. Her presentation included visuals as well as a verbal presentation to judges while in Anaheim.
Students qualified for the competition by placing at the state level in Rochester in March.
