With October being "Bullying Awareness Month," Mt. Pleasant Elementary School social worker Christopher Heedles recently held some special bullying awareness workshops for 5th graders.
Chris used "weights" as a way for the students to understand we don't always know the weight that our words, actions, and behavior have on someone.
"By having the students come together and "lift" each other up, it helped show them that there is strength in numbers when standing up to bullying." Chris said.
Each month, Chris teaches various social/emotional lessons to fifth graders.
