First graders at Mt. Pleasant Elementary went on a wild safari in their very own classroom! The students got to meet BOCES Environmental Science Program’s amazing animals and insects.
They experienced a corn snake, box turtles, stick bugs, hissing cockroaches, woodland frog, and more! Students learned how babies can look similar to their parents and sometimes be different from their parents. They also learned that animals can have colorings to blend in with their environment, called camouflage!
They were also able to give high fives, and touch the animals that came to visit MTP. They also learned some of the animals they can find right here on Long Island!
