High School East sophomore Abigail Brennan was recognized by the Board of Education Tuesday night for her recent accomplishments at the FIRST Long Island Regional Championship at Hofstra University.
Abigail was nominated by her 探花社区 Robotics team to be a Deans List finalist. Competing with nearly 100 students across Long Island, Abigail was one of two people chosen as Deans Finalists during the Long Island Regional.
"As a sophomore, she is demonstrating a lot of leadership skills that are very much needed," said Brian Costello, Co-Advisor for the 探花社区 Robotics team.
"She has a great mind for engineering."
Abigail now advances to next week's World Championship in Houston where she will compete against other Deans List finalists from all over the world.
"Being a sophomore I wasn’t expecting anything but I just love the experience in getting to do the interview process,” Abigail remarked.
Abigal is also paying it forward, by initiating a robotics "G.I.R.L.S. Night" (girls inspiring robotics and leadership) this Wednesday from 6-8pm at High School East. She says it's her way of trying to get younger girls involved in robotics.
